When possible, we recommend checking in online with your specific airline(s) 24 hours prior to departure. In some cases, this will not be possible. If this is the case, please allow a little extra time at the airport for check-in. If you would like to change your seating, this may also be done at time of check-in. Travel Information
*Please note, due to the nature of the arrival experience, please ensure ALL baggage is labelled and tagged with your contact information on it.
Instructions for arrival on July 13 (main program date)
As you arrive at Providenciales International Airport, you will proceed through passport control to the baggage claim. After retrieving your baggage from your assigned carousel, you will be met by our representatives holding Blue Diamond program signage as you exit the baggage terminal. You will then be escorted to your next exciting adventure. Welcome to Turks and Caicos!
Departure information will be shared with you upon arrival.
- English is the official language in Turks and Caicos, and you’ll find that locals are warm, welcoming and easy to communicate with. While you may hear local greetings or Creole expressions, everyone speaks fluent English and is happy to assist.
- While Turks and Caicos is known for its relaxed and safe atmosphere, it’s still important to stay aware of your surroundings. When exploring beaches or taking part in group excursions, stick with your group and follow your guide’s instructions.
- Be sure to pack sturdy footwear like sandals with support or lightweight sneakers. Many excursions include walking on sand, rocky paths or boat docks. Flip-flops are fine for the beach, but not ideal for tours or water-based adventures. A light waterproof jacket or sun-protective clothing is also a great idea for sudden showers or windy boat rides.
- To avoid wrinkled clothing, pack cotton and polyester blends – they wrinkle less than 100% cotton. You can also reduce wrinkles by leaving your clothes in the plastic bags dry cleaners use.
- If you carry prescription medications, keep them in the original labeled containers and pack them in your carry-on luggage. Please ensure you have a note from your doctor to acknowledge that you are taking certain medications. Your doctor or pharmacist should also provide you with a list of your medications, including the drug’s generic name (brand names may not be the same worldwide). Keep the name and phone numbers of your doctor and/or pharmacist handy. Customs agents can be very suspicious of unidentified pills.
- Take photocopies of your passport and health card in case it is lost or stolen while traveling. You may want to leave a copy at home with a spouse, significant other, friend or family member.
Upon Arrival at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Turks & Caicos
You will be directed to the hotel check-in upon arrival. The official check-in time is 4 p.m., however, depending on the time of your arrival, it could take a few hours until you are able to access your room. You will be directed to the hospitality experience in the ballroom foyer upon arrival for some food and refreshments.
The official currency in Turks and Caicos is the US dollar (USD). Cash is accepted island-wide, but many businesses also take major credit and debit cards. That said, it’s smart to carry some small bills for tips, taxis or places with minimum card purchases. ATMs are available but may charge foreign transaction fees.
In Turks and Caicos, tipping is appreciated as a way to recognize good service, though it’s generally not mandatory. At restaurants, a 15-20% gratuity is customary if a service charge isn’t already included in your bill — so be sure to check before tipping extra. Many hotels and resorts may add a service fee to your bill for housekeeping, concierge or other services, which is shared with the staff. For taxi drivers, guides, and other service providers, tipping around 10-15% is common.
Throughout your stay at The Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos, the Lorandus travel team will be on-site to assist you in every way possible. The hospitality desk is located in the lobby. Please consult the staff at the hospitality desk for changes to the program or please stop by with any questions you have throughout the week.
Hotel check-out time is 11 a.m.. Departures from The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos, on July 17 will be covered by Konica Minolta and organized by your Lorandus partners on site. You will receive your departure instructions in your registration package upon arrival at the Ritz Carlton.
All personal incidentals should be settled prior to your departure from the hotel.
